![]() Review by Daniel on Version: 1.17.2 OS: Windows 10 64-bit Ease of use: -/10 Functionality: -/10 Value for money: -/10 Overall: 5/10 Report Seems to be quite good. Please mark this as Trialware so people dont waste their time. What do I need to do to rip blu-ray discs? Why am I receiving the above abort message when the application indicates over a month left on the beta version? If the solution is to purchase the application outright (which I am willing to do), how can I verify operation of the latest version before buying? I don't want to buy it and have the same problem. Upon installation immediately got the message that Trail Period was expired. I even tried to rip a disc that I had previously successfully ripped, and I could no longer rip it. However, in the application, the "about" pane indicates an expiration date in February 2019. So we list four DVD ripping software as MakeMKV alternatives. You may still use all free functionality without any restirctions." Tired of the MakeMKV website suspending or the endless search for beta keys after the MakeMKV evaluation expired Although MakeMKV works like a charm when ripping DVDs, there are problems like MakeMKV not working or format incompatible issues. Which basically means Mike is quite willing to let people use the program for free for the time being but reserves the right to withdraw that offer at any time, which is why you have to keep updating the key to keep the program running. MakeMKV v1.14.1 ( ) Bug fixes: MakeMKV could crash during non-decrypted full disc backup Some discs caused extensive reads and very slow operation at the start of MKV file creation MakeMKV v1.14. It's quite clear on the subject that IT IS FREE WHILE IN BETA. Please purchase an activation key if you've found this application useful. You can reach your own conclusion, as I have done, about the whole process and the fact that MakeMKV itself does not make this clear and sort of (cough cough) encourages you to come to the conclusion that you're going to have to buy a copy to keep using it when that's not really the case. MakeMKV DOES NOT pretend that it is free. The last version released trial has expired, need a new version 1.14.2 most likely for that to restart. ![]() ![]() Now, when I attempt to rip a blu-ray disc, the operation is aborted with the message: "Evaluation period has expired. So makemkv is currently in between free and buy. Following the download instructions, I downloaded the latest version (1.14.2) with the intent of resetting the expiration date. Just grabbed American Psycho and The Hunger Games on Blu-ray and when I go to rip them it keeps telling me the trial is up but I can still use all its functions.weird because I just installed the latest version after it had previously expired.anyways it gives me errors in the message box/log/text area saying Failed to open disc and sharewa. Today, for the first time in weeks, I tried to rip a blu-ray disc, but I received a message that the evaluation period had expired. In a previous version of MakeMKV Beta (in Windows, the version of which I do not know because I subsequently installed a more recent version), I was able to successfully rip blu-ray discs. ![]()
